Banana Relays 2022 On a breezy spring Saturday April 23rd, the BURCats hosted the annual Banana Relay, the first in three years to see various teams from the state, including Cornell, Ithaca College, Stony Brook, and Buffalo! Whether the BURCats displayed spectacular performances in standard track races (200 Meter Dash up to the 5000 Meter Run) or our signature spectacles (the 400 Meter Banana Dash, Chocolate Milk Mile, etc.), our team established ourselves as a force to be reckoned with. The BURCats took home gold, silver, AND bronze in the men’s 400-meter Banana Dash with wins by senior Aidan Connolly (0:59.97), junior Jeremy Hall (1:00.15), and Freshman Clay Battle (1:01.27), while seniors Annalise Jarski (1:23) and Sarah Vener (1:24.79) took home gold and silver in the women’s race. Grad Student Jack Murphy took first place out of 21 runners in the men’s 800-meter race, while sophomore Marie Collins took home gold in the women’s Chocolate Milk Mile. Our very own freshman Joseph Sanelli wow’d the crowd in the plank-off with a record-smashing 11+ minute continuous plank! Congratulations to all Banana Relays participants!
Pennsylvania Run 2021!!!
To the Keystone State and back!! A hearty group of BURCites went the distance on a crisp mid-November morning out of the state to Pennsylvania, along with a surrogate group of supporters who drove to cheer and provide aid and snacks! Some especially crazy individuals went double and traveled the distance back, completing over 17 miles!! Needless to say, they earned a full-sized meal-and-a-half when they returned to Binghamton University. No stopping these runners!!
King of the Mountain The BURCats braved the chills and hills on an early December morning in the annual King of the Mountain race in the Binghamton University Nature Preserve. The race consisted of several teams of three, passing on the baton to the ultimate triumph at the top! The first two legs marched through the muddy, uneven terrain of the Pipeline, Marsh, Pond, and Connector Trails, while the final leg marched up the steeps of the Saddle Trail to the finish! Great job to all teams in bearing the elements and fighting to the top!
